Who is the Employment Pass for?

The Employment Pass (EP), also known as E Pass or Employment Visa, is the primary type of work visa in Singapore that is intended for entrepreneurs, executives, and skilled professionals. It is often preferred by foreigners who wish to set up companies or live and work in Singapore.

One notable feature of the Singapore Employment Pass is that there is no official limit or quota imposed on the number of EP holders that a company can employ.

To be eligible for an Employment Pass, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Fixed monthly salary: You must have a fixed monthly salary of at least S$5,000 or above
This salary requirement is subject to periodic updates and may vary based on factors such as job type, industry, and work experience.
  • Educational qualifications
You should possess a recognized diploma or degree qualification, or professional qualifications (professional or educational), or specialist skills that are relevant to the job you have been offered in Singapore.
Relevant work-related experience is also considered when assessing your eligibility for an Employment Pass. Your work experience should be aligned with the job you have been offered in Singapore.

You may also use the self-assessment tool provided on the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website to evaluate your chances of qualifying for an Employment Pass.

It’s important to note that meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee approval of an Employment Pass, as each application is assessed on a case-by-case basis. It’s advisable to carefully review the requirements and provide accurate and complete documentation when applying for an Employment Pass in Singapore.

NOTE: From 1 September 2023, in addition to meeting the qualifying salary, EP candidates must also pass a points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS)*
