Who is the Skill Pass for?
The S-Pass in Singapore refers to a type of work visa that is issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for mid-level skilled foreign workers who are employed by companies operating in Singapore. The S-Pass is intended for foreign workers who have a job offer in Singapore and meet the eligibility criteria, including factors such as salary, educational qualifications, skills, job type, and work experience.

Assessment: The application for an S-Pass is assessed using a point system that takes into consideration various factors such as salary, educational qualifications, skills, job type, and work experience. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifying criteria to be eligible for an S-Pass.

Quota: There is a cap on the number of S-Pass holders that a Singapore company can employ, which is limited to a sub-quota of 25% of the company’s total workforce.

Validity: The validity of an S-Pass is typically 1 or 2 years and can be renewed as long as the pass holder remains employed with the company, subject to prevailing conditions imposed by approving authorities at the time of renewal.

Benefits: S-Pass holders whose fixed monthly salary is at least a certain threshold may apply for Dependant’s Pass and/or Long-Term Visit Pass for their family members. S-Pass holders are also eligible to apply for Singapore Permanent Residency, with no waiting period, although it is advisable to wait for at least three years before applying.
